Introduction

The two devices namely Motorola Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus are both sibling with one being the better version. The devices are made such that they look stylish and neat in hands, comfortable to hold and use as well as to flaunt the low-cost premium looks. They don’t have the latest, but impressive chipsets that give out better performance keeping in mind the needs of the people now-a-days. Moreover, the devices are made totally on stock Android platform with some useful gesture integration.

Sneak Peek

The lower Moto G6 features Qualcomm SDM450 Snapdragon 450 processor clocked at 1.8GHz with 4GB/3GB of RAM and Adreno 506 graphics to support a decent gaming performance at this price. SOMETHING YOU CAN SHOW OFF!

Designed For Present Times

Both the devices are equally fashionable and designed according to the present times including 18:9 Aspect ratio screen. The phones have slightly curved edges which make them easy to hold. Moto G6 and G6 Plus have glass bodies but feel light in hands, expensive in looks. While for one-hand use, only G6 can be considered comfortable. The thing to notice is that both the devices have a physical home button that acts like a finger-print sensor as well. They also feature 3.5mm headphone jack that reside beside the USB-C charging port.

NICE THING TO LOOK AT

18:9 Display And Not A Great Audio Experience

The Moto G6 and G6 Plus have a balanced 18:9 aspect ratio ultra tall displays where the lower G6 have sports 5.7-inch FHD+ display and the higher-end G6 Plus sports a 5.9-inch FHD+ display with IPS technology. Why not OLED? Well Lenovo has promised a better battery performance in the smartphone and having an OLED display could have been an ultimate obstacle in maintaining price tag and quality. The maximum brightness in G6 reaches 573-nits where the maximum brightness in the G6 Plus reaches to excellent 800-nits. Talking about the speakers, the earpiece doubles as a media speaker but they become distorted after a certain level. Here Moto has given Dolby Atmos support but it can not do any better other than keeping the sounds from mixing.

DOES WHAT IT IS MADE FOR!!

Expected Performance

The G6 features an octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor which is efficient in battery usage while big and high end tasks are handled with ease and smoothness. Not much heavy games are quite a great experience as there is no lag seen or felt. The performance of G6 Plus is also very good comparing to older Snapdragon 625 but some better options are available in the same price range for better processor. The device has some Moto “software” mods that work great such as the fingerprint sensor can act like navigation touchpads where a press-and-hold locks the screen and a longer hold activates the google assistant.

DO NOT RUN OUT OF JUICE

Battery Life And Camera

The G6 Plus model has been claimed by Lenovo to have a juice for 2 days and in experimental results also, the phone looks to be a 2-days phone at normal usage noting the fact that the phone has 3200 mAh battery powering an HD 5.9-inch display. On the other hand, the former G6 also has a decent battery that could last all day at normal use. Moreover, the smartphones come with fast charging that supports to make a lot of juice in a small amount of time. Both the models have 12MP+5MP rear camera sensors and an 8MP secondary camera sensor. The quality of photos on the Plus model are decent in general scenario while the farther object look blurry and watercolor painting-like. The color and sharpness is something you would not find pleasing while the G6 model comparatively has a better execution in sharpness and contrast of the pictures. The 4K recording is quite good where it becomes unsteady because of lack of stability software.

Software

The smartphones come with Stock Android Oreo 8.0 with some quality gestures loaded. The Moto gestures can turn the Fingerprint sensors into touchpads- swipe left for back and swipe right for recent app menu. With all those things that are UI based wiped off and again, that’s what the Stock android does to a phone. Even then, the phone doesn’t lag or take hiccups with overall being a fantastic performance.
